THE GOLDEN EAGLES AND SIDELINE CANCER WILL PLAY FOR $1 MILLION ON TUESDAY NIGHT
The battle for TBT’s $1 million prize began on Independence Day and will conclude with a new champion for the second straight year.
The second-winningest team in TBT history, the Golden Eagles fell to Carmen’s Crew in the title game last summer after reaching the semi-finals in 2018. The Marquette University alumni squad looks to Darius Johnson-Odom and Jamil Wilson to pace the offensive attack, with each averaging 17.3 points per game. Wilson is particularly dangerous with the game on the line, having hit five Elam Ending shots in his TBT career. Dwight Buycks (12.3 ppg) is also a scoring threat, and Mo Acker(6.7 ppg) provides an offensive spark from beyond the arc.
Sideline Cancer, the #22 seed and the only team to participate in all seven TBTs, is one win away from capping one of the more inspiring stories in tournament history. Guard Marcus Keene (20.0 ppg), whose Elam Ending basket capped a 12-point, second-half comeback against Team Hines in the first round, carries the load offensively. Remy Abell (15.0 ppg) and Eric Thompson, TBT’s leading rebounder at 12.8 per game, are also big contributors. Mo Creek (14.5 ppg) is a threat from the outside and downed Overseas Elite in the semi-finals.
The $1 million championship game will tip off on July 14th at 7:00 PM EST live on ESPN.
